Microfluidic Cartridge Lab Technician

Your Role

To support the expansion of Axithra’s production and R&D capabilities, we are looking for a hands-on Lab Technician. In this role, you will be a key player in transitioning our microfluidic technology from prototype to production. You will be responsible for the assembly and testing of our test cartridges, supporting the setup of our new production facility in Liège, and ensuring that our processes meet our internal and regulatory standards. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of Axithra’s groundbreaking technology. Your role in turning our pioneering therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) solution in a real-world application:

  • Assembly of microfluidic test cartridges and production of their components with an eye for detail

  • Support the setup of our new production facility in Liège, ensuring the scale-up of our cartridge production

  • Running prototype cartridges and analysing clinical samples provided by hospital partners to validate platform performance

  • Drive continuous improvement by thinking critically about cartridge production and assisting with the automation of assembly lines

  • Prepare technical reports and documentation to track test results and production yields

  • Maintain lab operations, including equipment maintenance, test planning, sample handling, and ensuring a clean, organized work environment

  • Ensure compliance with internal quality protocols and international regulatory standards (ISO 13485)

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and product development, to refine design for manufacturability

Job Requirements

  • Education: B.Sc. in a relevant field, e.g. manufacturing, biomedical products, biotechnology, …

  • Hands-on Excellence: Proven experience in a laboratory or production environment, with a practical mindset toward building and fixing things

  • Quality Mindset: An eye for precision and a commitment to producing high-quality, reliable products

  • Adaptability: A strong willingness to learn and adapt to a variety of tasks within a fast-paced R&D and startup environment

  • Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, particularly when documenting technical processes or test results

  • Experience with rapid prototyping tools, e.g. laser cutting and 3D printing is a plus

  • Prior experience in cartridge assembly or microfluidics development is desirable

  • Knowledge of working within ISO 13485 or other regulated medical device environments is beneficial

  • Experience working in dust-free/cleanroom environments is a plus
