Lab Technician (Bio)chemistry

To reinforce our R&D team in Ghent, Belgium, we are looking for a committed Lab Technician to support the chemical and biochemical R&D activities. Your role in our pioneering therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) solution:

• Execute routine characterization of in-house batches and biological samples
• Support preparation and execution of experiments by preparing reagents according to established procedures (aliquots, solutions, mobile phase, biological sample processing, etc.)
• Assist with lab management within GLP and quality frameworks

Primary Technical Tasks: 

• Assisting with routine sample characterization (Raman, infrared and UV spectroscopy, liquid chromatography, pH, etc.)
• Prepare chemical solutions and reproduce chemical synthesis with established workflows
• Biological sample preparations for a variety of R&D experiments, characterizations, and other prototype testing
• Execute assays in Axithra´s TDM microfluidic platform

Other tasks include:

• Support laboratory equipment maintenance, and documentation in the quality system
• Manage laboratory stocks
• Support laboratory-related administration and maintaining records

Candidate Requirements

• Technical or bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• At least 2 years of experience working in a wet-lab environment from education, professional experience, or combination thereof
• Availability to work full time on site and 80% or more time in the laboratory
• Professional level of communication skills in the English language
• Skilled in Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new systems (e.g. quality platform)
• Good organizational skills for timely, precise, and accurate work
• Capable of working effectively in a multidisciplinary and diverse team
• Able to adjust effectively to meet deadline-driven schedules

Qualifications that are a plus:

• Previous experience on the described characterization equipment and techniques
• Previous work experience in medical device companies’ or projects
• Experience in handling biological samples in a BSLII or BSLIII environment
• Experience in chemical synthesis
• Experience in lab management
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements
